Shareability: novel perspective on human-media interaction

Interpersonal communication in the twenty-first century is increasingly taking place within digital media. This poses problem of understanding factors that may facilitate or hinder processes virtual contexts. Digital media require a human-machine interface, and analysis interfaces traditionally focuses on dimension usability. However, interface usability pertains to interaction users with devices, not other users. Here we argue there another human-media has remained largely unexplored, but plays key role interpersonal media: shareability. We define shareability as resultant set features that: (i) make sharing materials fellow easy, efficient, timely (sharing-related usability); (ii) include intuitively invite share affordances); (iii) provide sensorimotor environment includes perceptual information about both presented behavior are experiencing these through medium at hand (support shared availability). Capitalizing concepts from semiotics, proxemics, cognItive neuroscience, explore potential criteria asses interfaces.
